First and Last Bakery, LLC, a Connecticut-based company, has issued a recall of three tomato sauce products amid safety concerns. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall, emphasizing the importance of food safety and consumer caution.
All sauces come in 26 FL OZ jars and were distributed to Big Y and Stop & Shop stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts starting September 22, 2025. They have Use By Dates of September 2026.
The FDA's announcement revealed these sauces were made without an approved manufacturing schedule or process evaluation, raising the risk of contamination by Clostridium botulinum. This bacterium causes botulism, a life-threatening form of food poisoning.
Botulism can lead to severe health complications and, in extreme cases, death.
Consumers are strongly advised to check product jars and avoid consuming any recalled sauces.
This recall highlights critical food safety issues with First and Last Bakery’s tomato sauces, emphasizing the need for strict manufacturing standards to prevent botulism risks.
