Hilary Duff recently spoke about her comeback to the music world and gave a glimpse into her new single, This Is What Y2K Dreams Are Made Of. Earlier this week, she announced the release of her song "Mature" on November 6, marking her first new music since the 2015 album Breathe In.
During the Season Two finale of the Therapuss podcast, hosted by Jake Shane, Duff discussed her decision to return to the studio. She shared:
“It was always going to happen. There’s no way that that was not going to be a part of my story.”
The pop singer and former Disney star explained that after a decade away from music and now at 38 years old, she feels ready to reconnect and share more authentically with her audience:
“I feel ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of now.”
Duff emphasized her strong bond with fans she has had since childhood, expressing a desire to reengage with them:
“We have gone through a lot of the same things — whether that’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces, trying to find yourself in adulthood, family drama… Finally I felt safe enough and comfortable in my own family to step outside and open that part of myself up again.”
She acknowledged the ups and downs of her journey but highlighted the importance of reconnecting:
“It’s taken a lot of twists and turns and ups and downs and all of those things, but I have this crazy connection with fans that I’ve known since I was nine, 10 years old, and I just want to connect with them again.”
