TransLink will provide free transit for veterans and active military personnel on Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11, to honor their service and sacrifice. Holiday fares will apply to other passengers that day.
Eligible passengers can show a badge, military identification, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear their uniform to ride free of charge.
Veterans and other eligible passengers do not need to tap their Compass Card on buses or HandyDART. Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will stay open from 8 a.m. for their convenience.
On Saturday, November 8, TransLink also observes National Indigenous Veterans Day to recognize Indigenous veterans and their contributions to peace and global security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will distribute poppies by donation at several transit hubs across Metro Vancouver. TransLink encourages customers to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
