Several 'Today' show personalities made their cohosting debuts on Jenna & Friends this week. Craig Melvin’s first appearance alongside Jenna Bush Hager on the show's fourth hour aired Monday, November 3.
During the episode, Melvin remarked, “This is a nice set,” before admitting, “You know, I’ve never seen the show.” This candid confession caught Bush Hager off guard.
“That is so rude,” she quipped.
Melvin clarified his absence as a result of scheduling conflicts. “Well, because usually, we’re just getting off,” he explained, referring to the third hour of Today which airs before Jenna & Friends. “I’m usually in transit, but this is nice. … I know, I could probably watch some of it.”
At the start of the show, Melvin also complimented Bush Hager’s accomplishments as the host, noting her ability to work with various celebrity guests since Hoda Kotb left Today in January.
“What you have managed to do over the last few months on this show, from just a purely broadcasting perspective, as the kids would say, real recognize[s] real,” he said. “To be able to sit next to someone different every day or two and do this, that’s a feat.”
Author’s summary: Craig Melvin humorously admitted to never watching Jenna Bush Hager’s show before cohosting, praising her talent for seamlessly hosting with different guests.
