The celebrated British chef, known for his love of linen and fine wines, is launching his flagship Australian restaurant this December. Rick Stein will unveil Rick Stein at Coogee on December 1, marking his Sydney debut just in time for the holiday season.
Set above the sands of Coogee Beach, the new establishment forms part of the multimillion-dollar InterContinental Hotel renovation. This coastal venue will join Stein’s other successful ventures in New South Wales — Bannisters by the Sea in Mollymook and Bannisters Port Stephens — which he operates alongside his wife, Sarah.
“Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” said Rick Stein. “It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”
The menu, designed by head chef Colin Chun of W Taipei fame, will highlight local and seasonal seafood. The space aims to balance casual beachside appeal with refined dining, complemented by a stylish adjoining bar.
This new venue reflects Stein’s vision of capturing coastal sophistication with approachable dining. The relaxed atmosphere, ocean views, and a focus on local ingredients embody the spirit of modern Australian hospitality.
A digital-first travel publication, ROAM by The Nightly, highlights the opening alongside premium itineraries and experiences for discerning travellers.
