Former India batter Robin Uthappa shared insights into Jasprit Bumrah's bowling approach during the second T20I against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Uthappa suggested that Bumrah tends to lose his rhythm when he pushes too hard to claim wickets.
Speaking on Star Sports, Uthappa attributed Bumrah's uncharacteristic performance in India's modest total defense of 125 runs to his intense eagerness to make an impact early in the game.
"When we were bowling after scoring 125, the start was very important. If we had picked up two or three wickets in the first three or four overs, the game could have been closer because we have quality spinners in the middle overs. I felt we were probably trying too hard to pick up wickets. So we got a little wayward."
Uthappa noted that Bumrah's occasional lack of discipline and wayward bowling often appear when he is desperate to strike early, which can affect the team's bowling rhythm and performance.

This eagerness, while stemming from a positive intention, can disrupt Bumrah's normally composed and controlled spell.
Robin Uthappa believes Jasprit Bumrah’s rare off day at the MCG occurred because his eagerness to take wickets led to a loss of rhythm and discipline during India’s low scoring defense.
Author's note: Uthappa’s analysis highlights how pressure to perform can sometimes lead even top players to deviate from their usual consistency.
