The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the call and ordination of Gérald Caussé as the newest member of its Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Caussé, originally from Bordeaux, France, served as the church’s presiding bishop for the past ten years. In this role, he oversaw areas such as humanitarian aid, welfare programs, tithing and fast offerings, physical facilities, and membership records management.
Prior to that, he was a counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from 2012 to 2015 and served as a General Authority Seventy from 2008 to 2012.
Gérald Caussé is the fourth member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to be born outside the United States. He joins Dieter F. Uchtdorf (Czech Republic), Ulisses Soares (Brazil), and Patrick Kearon (England) in this distinction.
