Before bidding farewell to the hit Netflix show, actor David Harbour was seen walking the streets of New York with Esquire Spain. A version of this article appeared in the November 2025 issue of Esquire Spain magazine.
On November 26, Netflix’s Stranger Things will start its much-anticipated three-part send-off. The first four episodes of season eight will release on Thanksgiving Day, followed by three episodes on Christmas Day. The series finale will air on New Year's Eve, concluding the streaming platform’s most successful original series.
This finale marks the end of a decade-long journey for Harbour, who gained worldwide recognition as Hawkins, Indiana’s police chief Jim Hopper.
Given the long wait fans endured, the latter half of 2025 drew extensive media attention towards Harbour. However, the unexpected release of a surprise album recently has significantly increased the spotlight on him.
In September, prior to the release of the new season, Rafael Sánchez Casademont of Esquire Spain interviewed David Harbour to discuss his past career, the bittersweet conclusion of Stranger Things, and his future plans. The interview has been edited for length and clarity.
"When I was a kid it was this magical place. I grew up about an hour outside the city, in a suburban town in Westchester."
Harbour’s reflection highlights the deep personal connection he has with New York City, a backdrop to his life and career.
