The Government of Kazakhstan announced its decision to join the Abraham Accords ahead of a meeting between President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington D.C.
President Trump confirmed the news on Truth Social, calling Kazakhstan’s move “a major step forward in building bridges across the world.” He also mentioned that a formal signing ceremony will take place soon to make the accession official.
With this, Kazakhstan will join the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, Israel, and the United States within the Abraham Accords framework. This marks Kazakhstan as the first Central Asian nation and the only non–Middle Eastern or North African country besides the U.S. involved in the initiative.
Kazakhstan’s inclusion extends the reach of the Accords into Central Asia, reflecting their growing importance beyond their original regional focus.
“Kazakhstan’s accession represents a powerful statement from a Muslim-majority nation in favor of peaceful normalization with Israel.”
By joining, Astana strengthens the framework’s credibility across the Islamic world and shows that peaceful relations with Israel can align with Islamic values and regional collaboration.
Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Abraham Accords highlights a historic step for Central Asia, promoting peaceful dialogue and expanding the initiative beyond its traditional regional boundaries.
