Nearly 50 children have been hospitalised in Budapest after suspected mass food poisoning, mainly from nurseries and schools in the 13th district.
The Heim Pál National Paediatric Institute confirmed the children were admitted with symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea, and dehydration. Several required intravenous treatment.
All affected children are currently stable, and medical care continues without interruption.
By Thursday afternoon and evening, multiple parents reported their children fell ill following nursery or school lunches. One nursery possibly involved is on Futár Street in the 13th district, but children from other districts have also shown similar symptoms.
“My son started vomiting during the night. We managed to replace lost fluids at home, so he didn’t need hospital treatment. However, several classmates were taken to Heim Pál hospital,” shared Judit, a concerned parent.
The hospital stated,
“Our doctors and nurses are doing everything to ensure the children recover as quickly as possible.”
Experts emphasize that dehydration can pose a serious risk, especially for young children.
Medical teams remain vigilant as care proceeds.
Summary: Nearly 50 children in Budapest were hospitalised with food poisoning symptoms; authorities confirm the situation is stable and treat dehydration risks seriously.
