Aggro Crab and Landfall's breakout co-op climbing game, Peak, is getting stranger with its next free update. The game has become a surprising hit for the indie studios, attracting many groups of friends eager to survive its challenging climbs.
The Roots update introduces a new biome modeled after the dense forests of the Pacific Northwest. Players continue climbing, but now the setting is towering trees filled with new dangers.
The trees are difficult to scale, regardless of party size. Giant insects, such as spiders, hunt players by trapping them in webs and dropping them, risking long falls.
The update tweaks the cooking mechanics. Items placed in fire can have visible effects, encouraging players to experiment. It’s now possible to cook poison out of berries, but mushrooms remain risky.
The full patch notes can be found over on Steam.
