Since 2024, Australian actor Jacob Elordi has been a brand ambassador for Bottega Veneta. He leads the house’s “What Are Dreams” project, a short film and photographic series by U.S. artist Duane Michals.
The project was
shot in black and white at Michals’s home in New Yorkand reflects the artist’s strong connection to Surrealism. It aims to explore the unconscious, the imaginary, and the uncanny, according to the fashion house.
In the film, Elordi recites the poem
"What Are Dreams,"written by Michals (born 1932) and published in his 2001 photobook
"Questions Without Answers."The poem, which gives the project its name, refers to
"midnight movies of the mind... in which things seem familiar, yet not quite the same."
The associated photographic series contains 12 images showing Elordi in mysterious, poetic environments, consistent with Michals’s renowned style since the 1960s. Some visuals reference Surrealist artists the photographer admires, such as Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte.
This collaboration highlights the timeless allure of Surrealism interpreted through modern artistry and fashion.
