Firefighters responded Friday afternoon to a two-alarm blaze in a building on 23rd Street, just east of the Jones Falls Expressway in North Baltimore. SKY 11 reported intense flames and thick smoke rising from the scene.
According to officials, crews quickly evacuated the structure and switched to defensive operations to contain the fire and prevent further damage.
"There are heavy flames and smoke billowing from a two-alarm fire in North Baltimore," reported SKY 11.
The Maryland Transit Administration announced a temporary southbound detour for the LocalLink 94–Fort McHenry bus route, in effect until 5 p.m., to ensure public safety near the affected area.
