Man Utd Academy Star James Overy Earns First Senior Call-Up to Australia National Team

James Overy, a promising 17-year-old full-back from Manchester United's Academy, has received his first senior international call-up to represent Australia in the November international matches.

Exciting Month for the Young Talent

Overy recently spent a month training with Manchester United's first team following his participation in Australia's U20 World Cup campaign in Chile. This experience has allowed him to train alongside top professionals such as Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw, giving him a valuable opportunity to showcase his abilities.

While it is yet unclear when Overy will make his senior debut for United, the club's coach Ruben Amorim previously handed debuts to three young players last season. Reports indicate that Overy has impressed coaches since joining the senior squad training sessions.

Progression from Youth to Senior International Level

From being the youngest member of Australia's U20 squad at the World Cup last month, Overy has quickly advanced to the senior national team. Australia’s manager Tony Popovic has hinted that Overy could make his debut in one of the two friendly matches scheduled later this month.

"Tony Popovic has opened the door for the United youngster to make his senior debut in one of the two upcoming friendly matches later this month."

Overy, who has also represented Scotland at youth level, is part of a revamped Australian squad featuring 11 changes as Popovic aims to explore future talents, including six uncapped players eligible for selection.

Upcoming Matches

These friendlies serve as a platform for emerging players like Overy to gain senior international experience.
