Linda Hamilton, a sci-fi icon known for her role as Sarah Connor in the Terminator franchise, nearly stepped away from acting before taking on a villainous role in the fifth and final season of Netflix’s Stranger Things.
Hamilton is celebrated not only for the Terminator series but also for her roles in genre shows like Beauty and the Beast and Resident Alien. Despite her strong career, she faced serious health issues that made her reconsider continuing in show business.
“I had started to talk to my agent actually right before this about retirement,” Hamilton revealed. “I was having a terrible hip issue for a few years and I was like, ‘I can’t guarantee that I’m going to be at my best, and if I can’t do that, then I don’t want to be in front of [the] camera.’”
Just months after thinking about retirement, Hamilton received a call that changed her mind and brought her into the Stranger Things spotlight as a formidable villain.
