China Extends Visa-Free Entry Policy for France and Other Countries

China has announced a one-year extension of its unilateral 30-day visa-free entry policy for citizens of multiple countries, including France. Originally set to expire at the end of 2025, the policy will now remain valid until December 31, 2026.

Official Announcement

At a regular press briefing on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning confirmed the extension. Mao stated that Beijing will continue the visa exemption policy, which applies to several nations, to support high-standard opening-up and facilitate cross-border travel.

"To implement the guiding principles of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, expand high-standard opening up, and continue to facilitate cross-border travel, China has decided to extend visa-free policy to France and other countries to December 31, 2026."

Countries Affected and Details

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ consular services portal lists 45 countries and territories affected by this extension. Citizens of these countries can stay in China for up to 30 days without a visa, for purposes such as tourism, visiting relatives, or business activities.

Mao Ning also announced that starting November 10, 2025, Swedish citizens will be allowed a 30-day visa-free stay in China, valid through December 31, 2026.
