Ken Jennings, host of the popular game show Jeopardy!, addressed a recent clue that caused confusion and backlash among fans. The clue read, “A.I. generated the TikTok image of this pig/human eventually killed by Tim Cheese.” All three contestants appeared puzzled, and Jennings himself admitted, “I didn’t understand any of that.” The correct response was “Who is John Pork?”
The issue was not the difficulty of the clue but the way the meme was described. Fans reacted strongly on the official Jeopardy! Instagram account:
“John Pork isn’t ai dont slander him!”
“JOHN PORK IS NOT AI.”
“Upset I immediately knew the answer even with the question phrased incorrectly, he was NOT AI!”
In a TikTok video posted on Saturday, November 2, Jennings responded to the criticism:
“When we played a clue recently on ‘Jeopardy!’ about John Pork, I remarked that I didn’t understand a word of it. Well, I’ve had the chance to learn quite a bit since that clue aired about the late Mr. Pork, including the fact that some viewers took exception with our description of him as AI-generated.
Now, even though AI is used heavily in many of his TikToks, it’s possible that wasn’t the best wording to refer to his original appearances.”
Jennings acknowledged that the phrasing might have been misleading, despite the heavy use of AI in the related content.
The game show host apologized for calling the popular meme John Pork "AI-generated," recognizing fans’ concern about the description's accuracy and clarifying the distinction.
