During the World Series, the Toronto Blue Jays joined the Los Angeles Dodgers in honoring Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia, who is absent due to a personal family matter.
Alex Vesia is away from the Dodgers because of a “deeply personal family matter,” as stated by the Dodgers ahead of Game 1. In support, Dodgers pitchers have been wearing Vesia’s number during the games.
Following the Dodgers' example, several Blue Jays relievers also started wearing Vesia’s number in a show of solidarity. The Blue Jays pitchers involved include:
