Many celebrities have achieved great success despite not having a traditional high school diploma. Their stories show that formal education is not the only path to accomplishment.
Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, shared a touching moment about his education during the New York City premiere of his movie Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. Although he never graduated from the Professional Performing Arts School, an old teacher surprised him with a gift after the film screening.
“I wasn’t a good student because I didn’t go to school enough,” he said on the October 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. "And I was like, ‘Ah, you don’t have to do this, this is crazy, what are you giving me a gift for?’ And I open it up, and it is my high school diploma. So… at 34 years old, I graduated high school!”
Nicole Kidman, a two-time Oscar winner, regrets leaving school before completing her diploma. Reflecting on her past in an interview on 60 Minutes, she acknowledged both her pride and regret.
“I’m a high school dropout, which I’m not proud to say,” she explained. “I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me.”
By the age of 15, Kidman was focused on pursuing her acting career and moved to Los Angeles to chase her dreams.
These stories illustrate that despite not completing high school traditionally, determination and passion propelled these celebrities to exceptional success in their careers.
