Actor Jude Law and producer Ben Jackson founded Riff Raff Entertainment in 2017 after first meeting in a Primrose Hill pub in London in 2000. They transformed it into a boutique production company recognized for cultivating writer-driven stories.
The company produced Harry Wootliff’s True Things in 2021 and received funding from Calculus Capital in 2022. Before the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes in the US, Riff Raff completed Justin Kurzel’s The Order and later filmed the Netflix series Black Rabbit after the industry resumed activity.
Riff Raff has also established key partnerships, including a first-look deal with Anton for film projects and another with Studio TF1 for television content, which are strategically linked through their mutual backing.
“It’s win-win for us,” says Jackson of the collaboration with the interconnected companies. “We can take a project to them and they can put it with the team that likes the project.”
Looking ahead, the company is working on a diverse portfolio of projects, including Sharon Horgan’s first feature screenplay and a 1960s-set drama written by Challengers screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes. Riff Raff also plans to expand its presence with a Los Angeles office.
“We’re hoping to expand through the involvement and the tastes of the people who are leading the development team,” says Law. “Nurturing other people’s ideas and passions is key to our long-term survival.”
Riff Raff Entertainment, founded by Jude Law and Ben Jackson, has evolved into a dynamic studio fostering writer-focused projects and forging ambitious global partnerships.
