Fresh off a road sweep over Ohio State, No. 3 Penn State men's hockey will face another ranked opponent this weekend in East Lansing against Michigan State. Before the trip, head coach Guy Gadowsky and forward Gavin McKenna spoke with the media about the upcoming top-five series.
Penn State will be moving forward without forward Aiden Fink, who was a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award last season. Fink sustained an upper body injury during the game against the Buckeyes last Thursday and missed Friday’s game as a result.
“He has an upper body injury. He will be out for the foreseeable future.” — Guy Gadowsky
Gadowsky did not provide an exact timeline for Fink’s return but expects him to be back this season, likely around Christmas time. In the meantime, the team plans to continue with the same player rotation used on Friday and remain ready to adapt as needed.
“It’s going to suck without him in the lineup, but we know guys are going to step up,” said McKenna. “It’s a big role to fill, so guys are going to be working hard, and I’m going to make sure I’m doing my job.”
Summary: Penn State faces a tough challenge at Michigan State while adjusting to the temporary loss of key forward Aiden Fink, relying on team depth and leadership to fill the gap.
