Edmonton Oilers goalie Connor Ingram is working to rebuild his career in the AHL with the Bakersfield Condors after a challenging period marked by personal loss and recovery. The Oilers began the 2025–26 season steadily, leading the Pacific Division with a 6-4-3 record.
Ingram, 28, from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, is playing with the Bakersfield Condors, Edmonton's AHL affiliate. He was acquired by Edmonton in early October in exchange for future considerations sent to Utah, which continued to cover $800,000 of his $1.95 million salary.
Ingram is in the last year of a three-year, $5.85 million contract and will become a free agent after this season.
"He lost his mother, Joni, to breast cancer in December 2024, just nine months after her diagnosis."
This loss profoundly affected Ingram, prompting him to step away from hockey to seek help for depression through the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
"It was his second time in the program, having first entered in 2021 to deal with obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression."
The trade to Edmonton is a chance for Ingram to reset and focus fully on his hockey career after overcoming personal hardship.
