UFC Vegas 111 delivered a thrilling night of fights, with every main card bout ending in a finish. However, the promotion’s post-fight bonuses didn’t follow the usual format, leaving some fighters disappointed.
In the main event, Gabriel Bonfim defeated Randy Brown by knockout in a controversial finish that many fans considered an early stoppage. Despite the debate, Bonfim’s victory marked one of several memorable moments of the evening.
Lightweight Chris Padilla and welterweight Uros Medic both publicly appealed for $50,000 performance bonuses after their respective TKO wins over Ismael Bonfim and Muslim Salikhov.
“My family is struggling, and my mother is living in a trailer,”
Padilla said during his post-fight interview, revealing his motivation for pursuing the bonus.
“I should have received bonuses for two knockouts before,”
Medic added, referring to his 100% finish rate in professional fights.
This event featured a different bonus distribution. Instead of awarding a typical ‘Fight of the Night,’ the UFC opted to give four ‘Performance of the Night’ checks worth $50,000 each.
All but Reese achieved stunning knockouts; Reese secured a submission victory on just four days’ notice. Meanwhile, Padilla and Medic left Las Vegas without the bonuses they had hoped for.
Despite an action-packed card, UFC Vegas 111’s bonus selections surprised many, as fighters Padilla and Medic missed out while four others claimed $50K awards.
