Pete Davidson made an unexpected appearance on Saturday Night Live during the “Weekend Update” segment, where he and Colin Jost joked about a Staten Island Ferry they bought together years ago.
Colin Jost introduced Davidson by referencing a recent article:
“The New York Times recently ran an article calling the Staten Island Ferry that I purchased with Pete Davidson a ‘money losing fiasco.’ With more on this, is Pete Davidson.”
Davidson joined in with humor, replying:
“Colin, you’re looking great as ever. [Michael] Che, starting to crack.”
He continued to joke on several topics, including his participation in the Riyadh Comedy Festival and impending fatherhood:
“So yeah, in case you’re wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry. I assume that’s what the article says. I can’t spend $5 on a paywall when I got a kid on the way.”
Davidson revealed a new name for the ferry:
“We even gave the boat a new name, you know. We thought the Staten Island Ferry sounded too depressing, so now it’s called the Titanic 2.”
Jost added humor to the conversation:
“That’s right, and it’s actually going very well. Recently, we got paid by Nike to put an ad on it for the New York City Marathon.”
Pete Davidson and Colin Jost humorously addressed their Staten Island Ferry investment on SNL, mixing jokes about financial losses with playful new names and sponsorships.
