Delta cares for customers, reduces flights beginning Nov. 7 in compliance with FAA directive

Delta Adjusts Flights Following FAA Directive

Delta Air Lines is complying with a directive from the FAA and the U.S. Department of Transportation to reduce flights at 40 major airports across the country, beginning November 7.

Operational Impact and Weather Challenges

Air Traffic Control staffing limitations and severe thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon created additional constraints for Delta operations at its Atlanta hub. To maintain safety, approximately 30 inbound flights were diverted to alternate airports across the U.S.

“As nothing is more important than safety, nearly 30 inbound flights were diverted to other airports in the U.S.”

Due to Air Traffic Control restrictions slowing aircraft through the National Airspace System, Delta has experienced delays and further cancellations across its network.

Focus on Safety and Customer Care

Besides safety, Delta employees are working to assist customers, recover diverted flights, and ensure the secure operation of remaining flights. Some additional cancellations may occur on Sunday as the airline accommodates required rest periods for flight crews and repositions aircraft.

Flight Cancellation Details

These cancellations also include earlier suspensions connected to the FAA directive related to the federal government shutdown.

Customer Guidance

Travelers are advised to check flight status via the Fly Delta app or on delta.com before arriving at the airport to stay informed about any updates or changes.
