Alex Scott has started the season strongly, playing in all but one of the Cherries' matches so far. Despite scoring only one goal, he has been instrumental in the team's excellent campaign start.
After helping England U21s win the European Championships this summer, Scott's impressive performances have sparked debate about his potential inclusion in the senior squad for next summer's World Cup.
On Sunday, Daily Echo reporter Alexander Smith joined presenter Steve Crossman and former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson to discuss Scott’s form on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“He’s made a brilliant start to the season. He’s been, I think, one of the side’s probably three best players this season, he’s really raised his levels this season.”
“He’s got a good run of games. He’s started just as many games this season as he did last season already [nine starts this term to eight last season] and he’s really making the most of it.”
Smith added that although Scott missed significant time due to injury, he has been determined to overcome setbacks. Now fully fit, Scott feels he is playing some of his best football and benefiting from consistent playing time.
“Certainly [the] result against Forest, getting one over Elliot Anderson, will help his cause.”
Alex Scott’s strong performances early in the season highlight his development and growing importance to the Cherries and potentially England’s senior squad for the World Cup.
Author’s note: Alex Scott’s rising form reflects his resilience and growing influence, positioning him among the top players to watch this season.
