Singer HyunA caused concern among fans after she fainted on stage during a recent performance. The incident brought renewed attention to her earlier revelation about struggling with vasovagal syncope, a health condition she first discussed several years ago.
In 2019, HyunA shared details about her health on social media, reflecting on how she once ignored her symptoms to keep up with her career.
“I wanted to be someone chosen by everyone, so I kept running forward without realizing I was sick,” she wrote. “I told myself I was fine, but when I finally went to the hospital in 2016, I learned that my heart was actually hurting.”
That same year, she revealed being diagnosed with depression and a panic disorder.
“At first, I couldn’t believe it, but now I’m receiving regular treatment and trying not to think of it in a negative way,” she added.
HyunA described how she found out about her fainting condition after experiencing sudden vision loss and collapsing unexpectedly.
“My vision suddenly went blurry, and then I just collapsed,” she recalled. “After tests, I was told it was vasovagal syncope.”
According to medical professionals, vasovagal syncope — also known as neurocardiogenic syncope — is one of the most frequent causes of temporary fainting, triggered by a sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure.
HyunA’s on-stage collapse reignited public empathy and awareness of her ongoing health challenges, highlighting her openness about living with vasovagal syncope and mental health conditions.
