Davina McCall, 58, shared on social media that she underwent a biopsy after discovering a lump, which led to a lumpectomy to remove the cancer just weeks ago. She expressed gratitude to medical professionals and her loved ones during this challenging time.
Following her announcement, fans and celebrity friends such as Amanda Holden and Penny Lancaster offered their support and well wishes. McCall first revealed her diagnosis at a Dine With Davina charity event in Southampton, where the news left the audience visibly moved.
“The message here, is know your boobs. Sending out huge love.”
In November 2024, Davina announced she was diagnosed with a colloid cyst, a rare benign brain tumour, which required surgery for removal. She emphasized that her cancer was detected "very very early" but she will still undergo five days of radiotherapy in January as a precaution to remain cancer-free.
“I was very angry when I found out, but I let go of that and I feel in a much more positive place now.”
Davina shared that Lorraine Kelly had placed signs encouraging breast checks on the backs of doors, which prompted her to regularly check herself. She recounted noticing the lump persistently and decided to get it examined after seeing herself in the mirror one morning.
“Lorraine Kelly had put signs on the backs of all the doors saying ‘check your breasts’ and every time I went for a wee I did that. It was still there, and then one morning I saw myself in the mirror and thought ‘I’m going to get that looked at.’”
Davina thanked the doctors, nurses, family, and her fiancé Michael Douglas for their support during her treatment and recovery.
Summary: Davina McCall, after an early breast cancer diagnosis and surgery, remains positive and encourages regular self-checks, supported by loved ones and public figures alike.
