Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster share two sons, Alastair and Aiden. Although Rod is a father of eight, he was initially hesitant about having more children when they met in the 1990s.
Penny Lancaster, 54, and Rod Stewart, 80, celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary earlier this year. They first met in 1999, and their relationship developed over time. Rod proposed in 2005 during a romantic trip to Paris, and they married in 2007 at the medieval monastery La Cervara in Portofino, Italy.
After the birth of their eldest son Alastair, Rod named one of his tours the Alastair Wallace Stewart Tour to accommodate the baby's nap schedule. Penny recalled how she kept Alastair’s Moses basket beside their bed during the tour.
“Every afternoon at exactly 4pm he’d give a shrill scream that sounded as though he was dying.”
Penny shared in her book Someone Like Me that Alastair's colic was terrifying. The only remedy was the soft sound of Rod’s Great American Songbook collection, which seemed to soothe Alastair by reminding him of the womb, as Penny had been present during the recording when she was pregnant.
Penny gives a heartfelt glimpse into how music and family bonds helped soothe their son's colic, highlighting the deep connection within their household.
