Paramedics have confirmed that a man died on the M25 motorway following a medical emergency that occurred earlier this afternoon. The road has since reopened to traffic.
A spokesperson for the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) reported that emergency teams were called at around 3:50 pm after receiving reports of a lorry driver in cardiac arrest close to Junction 12 near Egham.
“Paramedics were called at approximately 3.50pm today, following reports of a lorry driver in cardiac arrest on the M25 near to Junction 12 at Egham. Ambulance crews were joined by the Fire & Rescue Service at the scene. Sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, the man died at the scene.”
According to Inrix, all lanes on the M25 are now open after an hour-long closure, with CCTV footage showing vehicles moving again and congestion gradually easing.
“The M25 is now OPEN anti-clockwise between J13 Staines and J12 M3 following a Police Led Incident. Please allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays of 45 minutes anti-clockwise and 20 minutes clockwise remain. Thanks for your patience.”
National Highways has advised motorists to follow the hollow square diversion symbol marked on local road signs and to allow for residual delays in both directions.
