Today I received an email urging me to try the new Stranger Things Burger and wings at KFC. Drawn in by the marketing and excitement around the upcoming season of the Netflix series, I headed to my local branch. Big mistake.
This new burger features a spicy zinger chicken fillet, cheese, crunchy slaw, burger dressing, and a sweet-and-spicy “secret sauce” served on a red glazed bun. It’s available as a meal with fries and a drink or as part of a box meal. The Stranger Wings, sold separately, include three chicken wings covered in a new hot sauce—these were actually quite good.
The positives end there. The burger I received looked messy and unappetizing straight from the box. I was so disappointed that I couldn’t even take a photo.
“I’m not sure what parallel universe served me up this burger but I couldn’t even bring myself to take a photo of it.”
The presentation in my local Stoke-on-Trent KFC has never impressed me, and this experience confirmed why I usually avoid their burgers. Sadly, this collaboration doesn’t live up to the Stranger Things hype.
Author’s summary: The new Stranger Things KFC Burger promises a bold crossover flavor but disappoints with poor presentation and unappealing execution.
