Low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo aircraft just before the busy holiday travel period. This 180-seat plane, featuring a new engine option, arrived over the weekend from Airbus' Toulouse, France facility.
The A320neo is the fourth aircraft Cebu Pacific has received this year and the first of its kind for the Gokongwei-led airline. Earlier, the airline also added its third out of four planned A330neo wide-body jets, which can carry 459 passengers.
Although these A330neos have the capacity for long-haul flights, Cebu Pacific currently uses them for domestic routes such as Iloilo and Palawan.
The Airbus Neo series is recognized for improvements in fuel consumption and noise reduction. These aircraft use 15% less fuel per flight and generate less noise than previous generations.
“This latest delivery helps ensure we have enough capacity to serve passengers looking to fly home or discover new destinations this holiday season,” said Xander Lao, president and chief commercial officer of Cebu Pacific.
“We’re committed to making travel more accessible and convenient, especially during this time of year when more Filipinos take to the skies,” Lao added.
The airline plans to service 16 flights connecting Manila and Bohol with the new, wider jet, enhancing passenger capacity during the peak season.
