Indian actor Govinda, aged 61, was admitted to a private hospital in Mumbai's upscale Juhu area early Wednesday after collapsing at his residence, according to multiple Indian media reports.
Govinda experienced disorientation late Tuesday night after taking medication prescribed during a phone consultation with doctors. He was rushed to the hospital at 1 a.m. Wednesday and remains under medical supervision.
"The 61-year-old actor is currently under medical observation and undergoing tests; further decisions on his treatment will be taken after the results are reviewed by doctors," said Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal.
"The doctors are expected to review his condition around noon, after which further decisions will be taken. Govinda’s medical tests are still ongoing," stated his manager, Shashi Sinha. She added that Govinda is conscious but remains in hospital care.
Just days before, Govinda visited fellow actor Dharmendra at another Mumbai hospital after Dharmendra's health took a turn for the worse. False rumours of Dharmendra’s death circulated on Tuesday but were later denied by his family.
Govinda is well-known for his memorable roles in films such as Partner, Hero No. 1, Bhagam Bhag, and Raja Babu. He is also recognized for his distinctive dance style. This is his second hospitalisation in just over a year.
