The Dallas Stars overcame a two-goal deficit in the first period to beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday night. With this victory, the Stars (10-4-3) ended an eight-game losing streak at the Canadian Tire Centre against the Senators (8-5-4).
The Senators took an early lead just 49 seconds into the game. Jake Sanderson made a cross-ice pass to Batherson, who scored from the left faceoff dot, putting the puck over goalie Jake Oettinger’s shoulder.
Shortly after, Jensen extended Ottawa’s lead by capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Dallas, firing a wrist shot past Oettinger from the top of the crease.
The Stars began their comeback in the second period at 16:22 when Rantanen scored on a breakaway. The goal emerged after Rantanen forced a turnover at the Stars’ blue line and received a precise pass from Robertson.
"Robertson feathered the loose puck to Rantanen, who had already broken past the defenders."
This win marks a significant turnaround for Dallas as they bounced back from a tough start and shut down their prior losing streak on Ottawa's ice.
