Pixar has released the first teaser for Toy Story 5, revealing a new tech-savvy toy and previewing the next major adventure in the beloved series. Scheduled for release next summer, this movie marks Pixar’s 31st feature film.
The teaser introduces a fresh addition to the toy box — a smart tablet named Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee, known for her roles in Past Lives and Tron: Ares.
“The age of toys is over.”
This tagline suggests an upcoming clash between nostalgic play and modern technology, as familiar characters confront what’s described as an “all-new threat to playtime.”
The film is co-directed by Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, WALL‑E) and McKenna Harris, who makes her directorial debut after years at Pixar. The pair describe the film as having a “playfully antagonistic tone,” exploring how these toys adapt to today’s tech‑driven world.
Confirmed in early 2023, Toy Story 5 continues a franchise that has earned more than $3.3 billion worldwide. It is also the first installment created without John Lasseter, who left Pixar in 2018.
Pixar’s Toy Story 5 teaser introduces Lilypad, a tech toy that challenges the classics, while the returning cast faces a modern world where nostalgia meets innovation.
