Idris Elba and Neil Cross to Return for Second Luther Film on Netflix
Chernin Entertainment is set to produce the untitled follow-up to the 2023 Netflix feature Luther: The Fallen Sun. Idris Elba will reprise his role as detective John Luther, alongside Ruth Wilson and Dermot Crowley, who return from the original BBC series (2010–2019) and the recent Netflix film.
Production and Creative Team
The project is produced by Chernin Entertainment, which also collaborated on the first Netflix film with BBC Film. Additional producers include Neil Cross, Tim Lewis, and Elba and Gina Carter for their 22Summers company. Production is scheduled to begin in February, though Netflix has not disclosed the filming location.
Plot Overview
The new film will follow Luther being secretly called back into service to investigate a series of brutal and seemingly random murders across London.
