Greta Lee joins a cast featuring Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in the latest chapter of the iconic series. In "Toy Story 5," the very thing that brought toys to life—technology—now threatens their existence.
The newly released trailer shows the toys reacting nervously to a newcomer: a Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee, known for her role in Tron: Ares. Previously, Buzz, Woody, and the gang were separated; Woody stayed while Bonnie left with Buzz and others (as seen in Toy Story 4).
The details of their reunion remain unclear, but it is evident the toys must face a world swiftly advancing with modern technology.
Thirty years ago, Toy Story revolutionized animation as the first computer-generated animated film, setting a new standard and leading to three sequels. While it elevated Pixar’s legacy, it also contributed to the decline of hand-drawn animation.
“It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences,” said director Andrew Stanton (WALL-E, Finding Nemo) and co-director Kenna Harris (Ciao Alberto).
Author’s summary: Toy Story 5 explores how legacy toys confront technological advances that shaped their origin but now threaten their survival, blending humor and nostalgia in Pixar’s evolving saga.
