Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, has openly discussed how her history with drug addiction has visibly impacted her health. The 27-year-old singer shared in a TikTok video on November 10 that she has developed a perforated septum as a consequence of her drug use.
Jackson explained the condition candidly:
“I realized I never addressed this and it can sometimes be very noticeable. I have a really loud whistle when I breathe through my nose, and that is because I have what is called a perforated septum.”
She used her phone light to show the hole in her nose, clarifying that a perforated septum differs from a deviated septum. The Cleveland Clinic defines a perforated septum, or septal perforation, as a hole in the cartilage or bone between the nostrils, often caused by injuries or conditions damaging the blood vessels in the nose.
“And that is from what you think it’s from,” Jackson said about the injury caused by drug use. “Don’t do drugs, kids,” she added, pointing at the camera.
Despite the warning, she expressed a nuanced view on personal choice:
“Or do, I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do. But I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life.”
