Fforest Fields, an award-winning camping and glamping site located in Hundred House near Llandrindod Wells, Powys, is planning to expand its facilities. The family-run site, recognized as the best in Wales at the 2025 Welsh Hospitality Awards, has submitted plans to Powys County Council for new caravan installations.
The application proposes the addition of nine static caravans, including two-bedroom and three-bedroom models, to be placed near the lake on the site. It also includes the installation of three treatment plants with drainage fields and related infrastructure.
Fforest Fields has operated since the 1980s, originally created by diversifying a small field in the center of the farm into a campsite. Over the years, the site has developed but strives to preserve its original charm.
“Some of our very first visitors are still coming back year after year. Even though the site has grown and evolved over the years; we work hard to retain the essence of that original 'little gem' of a site that's loved by so many.”
Earlier this year, the Barstow family, who run the business, received national acclaim when Fforest Fields was named the best campsite in Wales at the 2025 Welsh Hospitality Awards.
The proposed expansion aims to enhance the visitor experience while maintaining the site’s character and connection to its long-standing community of campers.
Author's summary: Fforest Fields, Wales’ top-recognized campsite, plans to add nine static caravans by the lake, preserving its unique charm while expanding comforts for visitors.
