How an NFL player helped Dusty Rhodes create MVP character

Creation of the MVP Character

According to Andrew Goldstein, a former WWE creative team member, Dusty Rhodes created the MVP character with inspiration from an NFL star.

Goldstein spoke to Conrad Thompson of AdFreeShows.com on The Insiders podcast, revealing how a former NFL star helped Rhodes come up with the MVP gimmick.

"You could just see the wheel spinning, I mean, the best example of that is MVP"

MVP was in developmental at the time, and his character was still rudimentary. Goldstein, an Eagles fan, noted that it was the time when the Eagles had Terrell Owens, which likely influenced the creation of the MVP character.

The MVP gimmick featured a full body suit and sports-styled presentation, which became a hallmark of the former US Champion and current AEW star.
