Radiant Selects Tennessee for Nuclear Generator Factory
Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter announced that Radiant has chosen Tennessee for a $280 million investment.
This investment will expand nuclear manufacturing and research and development in Oak Ridge, creating 175 new jobs in Roane County to support the development of Radiant's Kaleidos.
- The project will result in the world's first one-megawatt portable nuclear generator.
- The generator will be capable of providing power in remote areas and resilient power options for military bases or disaster-relief scenarios.
Radiant is the sixth company to utilize the Nuclear Energy Fund, a $50 million fund approved by the Tennessee General Assembly.
The facility will be the world's first mass-produced nuclear generator factory.
