Colorado Opportunity Caucus Retreat
A group of Democratic state lawmakers gathered with lobbyists at a Vail retreat, sparking questions about who paid for the event.
The Colorado Opportunity Caucus, a nonprofit organization, organized the gathering. As a nonprofit, the caucus does not disclose its donors.
The purpose of the event was to “get a group of pragmatic, diverse legislators together to really talk about our goals for our caucus based on what we think the Colorado people really want and need.”
At least 17 Democratic state lawmakers attended the two-day retreat, which included “educational panels” and discussions, according to state Sen. Lindsey Daugherty, chair of the caucus.
The Colorado Opportunity Caucus is considered among the more moderate Democrats in the legislature and was formed in January as a nonprofit.
