Polaris has announced the sale of the iconic Indian Motorcycle brand to a private equity group, Carolwood LP.
The American V-twin manufacturer will be spun off into its own company before the sale. Polaris has been the custodian of America’s first motorcycle company for over a decade, reviving it from a troubled past into a competitor to Harley-Davidson.
The move will “enable each business to move faster, deliver industry-leading innovation, and lean further into our respective market strengths,”
according to Polaris CEO Mike Speetzen. This sale marks a pivotal moment for the celebrated brand, raising questions about its future.
