Performance artist Harriet Richardson and type foundry F37 have created a typeface inspired by her diary confessionals, which she shared on her Instagram account.
The project is described as "part archival, part performance" and features an 'auto-yearn' feature. It began when F37 reached out to Harriet via direct message, proposing a collaboration to design a typeface, now known as F37 Harriet.
Harriet accepted the proposal to not only explore a new creative field but also to counter corporate gloss.
The ideation stage included various ideas, such as fonts inspired by protest placards, love letters, or letterforms drawn from the curves of her body.
Author's summary: Harriet Richardson collaborates with F37 to create a unique typeface.
