Council accepts settlement funds to go towards waterworks

Council Accepts Settlement Funds for Waterworks

Portsmouth City Council voted to accept settlement funds from PFAS Litigation to support the city's Waterworks Capital Improvement Fund.

The state of Ohio had filed a suit against DuPont, Chemours, and Corteva in November 2023 to address PFAS contamination, also known as "forever chemicals".

The Council's Vice President, Lyvette Barnes-Mosley, voted to waive the remaining hearing and accept the payout of over $780,000, which will be used for repairs and improvements to the city's water system.

The funds will go towards the city's Waterworks Capital Improvement Fund.

Author's summary: Council accepts $780,000 settlement for waterworks repairs.
