Portsmouth City Council voted to accept settlement funds from PFAS Litigation to support the city's Waterworks Capital Improvement Fund.
The state of Ohio had filed a suit against DuPont, Chemours, and Corteva in November 2023 to address PFAS contamination, also known as "forever chemicals".
The Council's Vice President, Lyvette Barnes-Mosley, voted to waive the remaining hearing and accept the payout of over $780,000, which will be used for repairs and improvements to the city's water system.
The funds will go towards the city's Waterworks Capital Improvement Fund.
