Vicksburg officials will open a 50-year-old time capsule in a bicentennial celebration at the Warren County Courthouse on Friday.
Fifty years ago, Peggy Sue Fulghum watched history unfold as a time capsule was buried as part of the nation’s bicentennial celebration. Now, five decades later, the moment has arrived to unearth it.
The unearthing will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Warren County courthouse.
I am so glad my daughter is going to be able to come, since she was the youngest one to sign, said Fulgham, referring to a Bicentennial scroll created by the Vicksburg Bicentennial Commission.
Fulghum, along with her daughter, Jennifer Fulghum Lewis, will witness the unearthing, just as they did all those years ago.
