Reporters Without Borders (RSF) has warned of Russia's increasing use of in absentia convictions against exiled Russian journalists and foreign media professionals.
This tactic is used to intimidate journalists, prevent their return to Russia, and pressure their relatives. Since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, it has become a common practice.
Our goal: to leave no breach of freedom of information unreported.
RSF produces daily publications from its regional offices, connected to a network of correspondents in 115 countries worldwide, and also publishes a world press freedom ranking and investigation reports.
Author's summary: Russia targets exiled journalists with in absentia convictions.
