A proposal to link Galveston and Pelican Island with a "land bridge" has been revisited, despite being deemed less favorable than the currently approved design.
The 60-year-old Pelican Island Bridge is the sole land route to Pelican Island, home to Texas A&M University at Galveston and various industrial companies.
The design isn’t a bad idea and would provide some benefits the approved design can’t.
However, the idea was already considered late in 2018, and now seems an inopportune time for a fundamental rethinking of the plan.
