Book Brigade Helps Polar Peak Store Start New Chapter

Polar Peak Books is moving to a new location in downtown Fernie, and the community has come together to help. The store is relocating from 592 2 Ave to 482 2 Ave, and the Book Brigade was formed to assist with the move.

Loyal patrons and book lovers gathered on Fernie's main street on September 23 to pass books to each other, forming a human chain. The store's founder, Laura Nelson, had the honor of passing the first book to current co-owners Melanie Jeannotte and Maureen Tuggle.

The Brigade was both practical and symbolic. It helped us move a chunk of books, but it was also an opportunity for everyone to gather and be part of the transition.

This event symbolized the store's transition over its 32 years of ownership. Author's summary: Community helps Polar Peak Books move to new location.
