The 2025 Shanghai Masters saw cousins Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Rinderknech face off in the final, with Vacherot emerging victorious.
Vacherot defeated Rinderknech 4–6, 6–3, 6–3, claiming his first ATP Tour-level title and upsetting his cousin, who was 150 places above him in the ATP Rankings.
Notably, Vacherot also defeated 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the semi-final, as well as 14th seed Alexander Bublik and 10th seed Holger Rune.
Vacherot made history as the first man from Monaco to reach the quarter-final of an ATP Masters 1000 event and went on to become the first Monagasque to win a top-level title.
He ended his Shanghai fairytale run with the trophy.
